On Relationships

Woody Allen said it best when asked about "relationships," and he told a story to illustrate. He said I think this story speaks about relationships.

A man came in to see a psychiatrist. When the psychiatrist asked him what the problem was, the man said, "Well, it's my brother. I think he's crazy."

"Why do you think that," asked the Doctor.

"Well," said the man, "He thinks he's a chicken."

"Hmmm .." the doctor replied, "That does sound sort of strange. Why don't you bring him in."

"I can't," said the man.

"Well, why not," asked the doctor.

"Because, I need the eggs." the man said.

I guess we are intertwined a little more than we like to think. And, we always see the other's strangeness even though we have just as much of our own strangeness, and often we have "complimentary" strangeness.

The Perfect Girl

A friend asked a gentleman how it is that he never married.

Replied the gentleman, "Well, I guess I just never met the right woman... I guess I've been looking for the perfect girl."

"Oh, come on now," said the friend, "Surely you have met at least one girl that you wanted to marry."

"Yes, there was one girl .. once. I guess she was the one perfect girl... the only perfect girl I really ever met. She was just the right everything .. I really mean that she was the perfect girl for me."

"Well, why didn't you marry her," asked the friend.

"She was looking for the perfect man," he said.

Hang In There

Nicolo Paganini was a well-known and gifted nineteenth century violinist. He was also well known as a great showman with a quick sense of humor. His most memorable concert was in Italy with a full orchestra. He was performing before a packed house and his technique was incredible, his tone was fantastic, and his audience dearly loved him.

Toward the end of his concert, Paganini was astounding his audience with an unbelievable composition when suddenly one string on his violin snapped and hung limply from his instrument. Paganini frowned briefly, shook his head, and continued to play, improvising beautifully.

Then to everyone's surprise, a second string broke. And shortly thereafter, a third. Almost like a slapstick comedy, Paganini stood there with three strings dangling from his Stradivarius. But instead of leaving the stage, Paganini stood his ground and calmly completed the difficult number on the one remaining string.

Human Life Span

On the first day God created the dog. God said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's too long to be barking. Give me ten years and I'll give you back the other ten." So God agreed.

On the second day God created the monkey. God said, "Entertain people, do monkey tricks and make them laugh. I'll give you a twenty-year life span." The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? I don't think so. Dog gave you back Ten, so that's what I'll do too, okay?" And God agreed.

On the third day God created the cow. "You must go to the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves, and give milk to support the farmer. I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty and I'll give back the other forty." And God agreed again.

On the fourth day God created man. God said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. I'll give you twenty years."

Man said, "What? Only twenty years? Tell you what, I'll take my twenty, and the forty the cow gave back, and the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back, that makes eighty, okay?"

Okay," said God, "You've got a deal."

So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves; the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family; the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren; and the last Ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you...

Manage a Business successfully, manage a business, is the trick to the establishment and expansion of the company. The trick to
successful management is to inspect the market environment and create profit and employment opportunities that provide the
potential growth and fiscal viability of the business enterprise.

Regardless of the Significance of direction, this region can be misunderstood and badly implemented, primarily because people
focus on the output rather than the process of direction.

Toward the end Of the 1980s, company managers became absorbed in improving product quality, occasionally ignoring their role
vis-a-vis personnel. The focus was on reducing costs and raising output, while dismissing the long-term advantages of motivating
employees. This shortsighted perspective tended to raise profits in the short term, but created a dysfunctional long-term business
environment.

Simultaneously With the increase in concern about quality, entrepreneurship brought the interest of company. A sudden wave of
successful entrepreneurs seemed to leave sooner management concepts obsolete. The press focused on the new cult heroes Steve Jobs
and Steve Wozniack (creators and developers of the Apple Computer) while disregarding the marketing and coordinating abilities of
Mike Markula, the executive responsible for Apple's business program. The story of 2 guys selling their Volkswagen bus to
construct the first Apple computer was more amorous than that of the organizational genius that enabled Apple to grow, market and
send its products while quickly turning into a significant business.

In large Companies, effective handle business abilities requires preparation. Planning is vital for developing a firm's potential.
However, many small businesses don't recognize the demand for long-term aims, since the small number of individuals involved with
operating the business implies equivalent responsibility in the preparation and decision-making processes. Nonetheless, the need
for planning is as important in a small business because it's at a large one.

This guide Focuses on the importance of good management practices. Specifically, it addresses the obligations of managing the
external and internal environments.

Managing A Business Effectively: The External Environment. Five decades ago, Alvin Toffler indicated that the vision of the
taxpayer in the tight grasp of an omnipotent waiver could be replaced through an organizational structure of ad-hocracy. The
traditional business organization implied a social contract between workers and employers. By adhering to some predetermined set
of duties and sharply defined functions and responsibilities, workers received a predefined set of benefits. The Organizational
structure that Toffler predicted in 1970 became the standard 20 decades later, and it arrived altered concepts of jurisdiction. As
associations became transitory, the authority of the company and firm was replaced with the authority of the individual
supervisor. This entrepreneurial management model is now being replicated throughout society. Consequently, the individual small
business owner must internalize ever raising organizational purposes.

Another change In today's business environment is dealing with government agencies. Their influence on the conduct of business
most recently seems to have increased. As industries don't achieve high levels of ethical behaviour or individual companies
display particular lapses, the government rushes in to fill the breach with its regulations.

Powerful Communications play an integral role in managing and operating any successful business. With open communications
modifications and their consequences on the business are rapidly shared. Your company then has the time and skills required to
respond to changes and take advantage of evolving opportunities.

The next Checklist addressing how you'd react to an employee's proposal offers an assessment of the communication process in your
company. Place a check next to the statements that are generally heard in your company.

Balancing Schedules Stress and Personnel. With no organization and decent control the compressed time schedules associated with
modern company can lead to stress and make exceptional demands on people. An effective management structure can lessen stress and
station the effective capacity of employees into company growth and profits.

Setting Duties Tasks and Duties. An organization is distinguished by the character and determination of workers' duties tasks and
responsibilities. While many organizations use various procedures for determining these it is vital that they be clearly defined.

The core of any Organization is its people and their own functions. Duties tasks and responsibilities frequently evolve in an ad
hoc manner. A typical firm starts with a couple of people frequently one doing all duties. As the company develops others are
hired to fulfill specific roles often on a functional basis. Roles which were managed by consultants and experts beyond the firm
are now managed internally. As new demands emerge new roles have been developed.

Another key to Successful direction is located in controlling battle. Conflict can't be removed from the business or the social
activities of this enterprise. A measure of this business's success is the degree to which conflict can be subjected and the
energies associated with it channeled to build up the firm. Though establishing policies and processes represents the tangible
component of organization and management the mechanisms to tolerate and embody barriers to the established operation serve as the
actual essence of a firm which will survive and prosper.

Even though you May discover that certain events are impacting your business be careful not to change the organizational structure
of your firm without discussing it with your management team. Employees normally can achieve goals despite organizational
arrangements enforced by management. Since restructuring involves spending a great deal of time studying new guidelines
implementing a new organizational structure is pricey.

The essence of A prosperous organization can be more simply outlined than employed. The Following checklist can help you determine
steps to make sure your direction Structure is adequate. Verify the entries that apply to your firm and also find Out what
measures your company needs to take to improve its management Structure.
