Things We Can Learn from a
Dog...
Never pass up the opportunity to go
for a joy ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and
the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run
to greet them.
When it's in your best interest,
practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded
your territory.
Take naps and stretch before rising.
Run, romp and play daily.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're
not.
If what you want lies buried, dig
until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be
silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
Thrive on attention and let people
touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will
do.
On hot days, drink lots of water and
lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and
wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded,
don't buy into the guilt thing and pout .. run right back and
make friends.
Delight in the simple joys of a long
walk.
Acres Of Diamonds
There was a farmer in Africa who was
happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was
content because he was happy. One day a business man came to him
and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes
along with them.
The man said, “If you had a diamond
the size of your thumb, you could have your own city. If you had
a diamond the size of your fist, you could probably own your own
country.” And then he went away.
That night the farmer
couldn't sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontent. He was
unhappy because he was discontent and discontent because he was
unhappy. The next morning he made arrangements to sell off
his farm, took care of his family and went in search of
diamonds.
.
He looked all over Africa and couldn't find
any. For several years he walked from country to country, from
river to river, until at some point he was emotionally,
physically and financially broke. He got so disheartened that he
threw himself into a river and died.
.
Back home, the
person who had bought his farm was watering the sheep at a
stream that ran through the farm. Across the stream, the rays of
the morning sun hit a stone and made it sparkle like a rainbow.
He thought it would look good on his living room's chest. He
picked up the stone and put it in the living room.
That afternoon the business man came
and saw the stone sparkling. He asked, “Is Hafiz back?” The new
owner said, “No, why do you ask?” The business man said,
“Because that is a diamond. I recognize one when I see one.”
The man said, "No, that's just a
stone I picked up from the stream. Come, I'll show you. There
are many more.” They went and picked some samples and sent them
for analysis. Sure enough, the stones were diamonds. They found
that the farm was indeed covered with acres and acres of
diamonds.
What is the moral of this story?
Opportunity is always under our feet. We don't have to go
anywhere. All we need to do is recognize it.
An Encounter At
McDonalds
A touching story I received from a
friend long ago and now sharing it with you. I don't have any
idea about the original author.
I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12,
3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class
I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely
inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had
been graced with. Her last project of the term was called
"Smile". The class was asked to go out and smile at three people
and document their reaction.
I am a very friendly person
and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway... so, I
thought, this would be a piece of cake.
Soon after we were assigned the
project, my husband, our youngest son, and I went out to a
McDonalds. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when
all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then
even my husband did. I did not move an inch... an overwhelming
feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why
they had moved.
As I turned around I smelled a
horrible "dirty body" smell... and there standing behind me were
two homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close
to me, he was "smiling", his beautiful sky blue eyes were full
of light as he searched for acceptance.
He said, "Good day" as he counted the
few coins he had been clutching. The second man fumbled with his
hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the second man
was mentally deficient and the blue eyed gentleman was his
salvation. I held my tears as I stood there with them.
The young lady at the counter asked
him what they wanted. He said, "Coffee is all Miss" because that
was all they could afford (to sit in the restaurant and warm up
they had to buy something... they just wanted to be warm).
Then I really felt it... the compulsion was so great I almost
reached out and embraced the little man with the blue eyes. That
is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me...
judging my every action. I smiled and asked the young lady
behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a
separate tray. I then walked around the corner to the table that
the men had chosen as a resting spot.
I put the tray on the table and laid
my hand on the blue eyed gentleman's cold hand. He looked up at
me, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Thank you". I leaned
over, began to pat his hand, I couldn't say a word. I started to
cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat down
my husband smiled at me and said, "That is why God gave you to
me honey....to give me hope". We held hands for a moment and
looked at each other.
I returned to college, on the last
evening of class, with this story in hand. I turned in "my
project" and the instructor read it... then she looked up at me
and said, "Can I share this?" I slowly nodded as she got the
attention of the class. She began to read and that is when I
knew that we as human beings share this need to heal.
In my own way I had touched the
people at that McDonalds, my husband, son, instructor, and every
soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a
college student. I Graduated with one of the biggest lessons I
would ever learn... unconditional acceptance... after all... we
are here to learn!
Manage a Business successfully, manage a
company, is the key to the establishment and expansion of the
company. The trick to
successful management is to examine the
marketplace environment and create employment and profit
opportunities that provide the
possible growth and financial
viability of the business.
Despite the Importance of
direction, this region is often misunderstood and poorly
executed, primarily because people concentrate
on the output
rather than the procedure for management.
Toward the end
Of the 1980s, business managers became absorbed in enhancing
product quality, occasionally ignoring their role
vis-a-vis
personnel. The focus was on reducing costs and increasing
output, while dismissing the long-term advantages of
motivating employees. This shortsighted perspective tended to
raise profits in the brief term, but created a dysfunctional
long-term small business environment.
Simultaneously
With the growth in concern about quality, entrepreneurship
attracted the attention of business. A sudden wave of
successful entrepreneurs appeared to leave sooner management
theories obsolete. The popular press focused on the new cult
heroes
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniack (creators and developers
of the Apple Computer) while disregarding the marketing and
organizing
talents of Mike Markula, the executive accountable
for Apple's business plan. The story of two guys selling their
Volkswagen bus
to construct the first Apple computer was more
romantic than that of their organizational genius that enabled
Apple to grow,
market and send its goods while quickly
turning into a significant corporation.
In large
Businesses, effective manage business skills necessitates
preparation. Planning is vital for creating a company's
potential. But many small businesses do not recognize the demand
for long-range plans, because the few of individuals involved
with operating the company suggests equal responsibility in the
preparation and decision-making processes. Nevertheless, the
requirement for preparation is as important in a small business
because it's in a large one.
This manual Focuses on the
importance of good management practices. Specifically, it
addresses the responsibilities of handling
the internal and
external environments.
Running A Business Effectively:
The External Environment. Five decades ago, Alvin Toffler
indicated that the vision of the citizen
in the tight grip of
an omnipotent waiver could be substituted by an organizational
arrangement of ad-hocracy. The conventional
company
organization implied a social contract between workers and
employers. By adhering to a predetermined set of obligations
and sharply defined functions and responsibilities, employees
obtained a predefined set of benefits. The Organizational
structure
that Toffler predicted in 1970 became the norm 20
decades later, and with it came changed concepts of authority.
As organizations
became more transitory, the authority of
their company and firm was replaced by the jurisdiction of the
individual supervisor.
This entrepreneurial management model
is currently being replicated throughout society. Consequently,
the individual business
operator must internalize ever
increasing organizational purposes.
Another change In
the present business environment is dealing with government
agencies. Their effect on the conduct of business
most
recently seems to have increased. As industries fail to achieve
high levels of ethical behaviour or individual businesses
display particular lapses, the government rushes in to fill the
breach with its regulations.
Powerful Communications
play an integral role in managing and operating any thriving
small business. With open communications
changes and their
effects on the organization are quickly shared. Your company
then has the time and skills needed to react to
changes and
take advantage of evolving opportunities.
The next
Checklist addressing how you'd react to an employee's proposal
offers an assessment of the communication process in your
company. Place a check next to the statements which are
generally heard in your company.
Balancing Schedules
Stress and Personnel. With no organization and good management
the compressed time programs related to
contemporary company
can cause stress and make extraordinary demands on individuals.
A successful management structure can reduce
stress and
station the productive capacity of workers into company growth
and profits.
Setting Duties Tasks and Duties. An
organization is distinguished by the nature and determination of
workers' responsibilities
tasks and responsibilities. While
many organizations use different procedures for determining
these it's vital that they be
clearly defined.
The
center of any Business is its people and their own functions.
Duties responsibilities and tasks frequently evolve into an ad
hoc manner. A normal firm starts with a couple of people often
one performing all duties. As the firm develops others are hired
to
fill specific roles often on a functional basis. Roles
which were managed by consultants and experts beyond the firm
now are
managed internally. As new needs emerge new roles
have been developed.
Another key to Successful
management is located in controlling conflict. Conflict cannot
be removed from either the business or
the interpersonal
actions of this enterprise. A measure of this organization's
success is the degree to which conflict may be
exposed and
the energies related to it channeled to develop the company.
Although establishing policies and processes represents
the
concrete component of organization and management the mechanisms
to tolerate and embody challenges to the established
performance function as the actual gist of a firm that will
survive and prosper.
Even though you May discover that
particular events are affecting your company be careful not to
alter the organizational
structure of your company without
discussing it with your management team. Employees generally can
accomplish goals despite
organizational structures enforced
by management. Since restructuring involves spending a lot of
time studying new rules
implementing a new organizational
structure is costly.
The essence of A prosperous
organization can be simply outlined than employed. The Following
checklist can help you determine
steps to ensure your
direction Construction is sufficient. Check the entries that
apply to your company and also find Out what
measures your
company should take to enhance its management Construction.
