Enjoy Your Coffee

A Group of friends, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and assortment of cups – porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite – telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: “If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of problems and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then began envying each other’s cups.

Now consider this: “Life is the COFFEE; the jobs, money and position in the society are the CUPS. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee”.

The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

Enjoy your coffee...

The House With The Golden Windows

The little girl lived in a small, very simple, poor house on a hill and she would play in the small garden. As she grew up she was able to see over the garden fence and across the valley to a wonderful house high on the hill – and this house had golden windows, so golden and shining that the little girl would dream of how magic it would be to grow up and live in a house with golden windows instead of an ordinary house like hers.

And although she loved her parents and her family, she yearned to live in such a golden house and dreamed all day about how wonderful and exciting it must feel to live there.

When she got to an age where she gained enough skill and responsibility to go outside her garden fence, she asked her mother if she could go for a bike ride outside the gate and down the lane. After pleading her mother finally allowed her to go, insisting that she kept close to the house and didn’t wander too far.

The day was beautiful and the little girl knew exactly where she was heading! Down the lane and across the valley, she rode her bike until she got to the gate of the golden house across the other hill.

As she parked her bike and lent it against the gate, she focused her eyes on the path that lead to the house and then on the house itself…and was so disappointed as she realized that all the windows were plain and rather dirty, reflecting nothing other than the sad neglect of the house that stood derelict.

She was so sad that she didn’t go any further and turned, heartbroken. As she remounted her bike and glanced up she saw a sight to amazed her... There across the way on her side of the valley was a little house and its windows sparkled golden... As the sun shone on her little home.

She then realized that she had been living in her golden house and all the love and care she found there was what made her home the ‘golden house’. Everything she dreamed of was right there in front of her nose!

To Build a Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge that spans the river tying Manhattan Island to Brooklyn is truly a miracle bridge. In 1863, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea for this spectacular bridge. However, bridge-building experts throughout the world told him to forget it; it could not be done.

Roebling convinced his son, Washington, who was a young up and coming engineer, that the bridge could be built. The two of them developed the concepts of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. With an un harnessed excitement and inspiration, they hired their crew and began to build their dream bridge.

The project was only a few months under construction when a tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling and severely injured his son, Washington. Washington was left with permanent brain damage and was unable to talk or walk. Everyone felt that the project would have to be scrapped since the Roeblings were the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built.

Even though Washington was unable to move or talk, his mind was as sharp as ever, and he still had a burning desire to complete the bridge. An idea hit him as he lay in his hospital bed, and he developed a code for communication. All he could move was one finger, so he touched the arm of his wife with that finger, tapping out the code to communicate to her what to tell the engineers who were building the bridge. For thirteen years, Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger until the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge was finally completed.

Handle a Business successfully, handle a business, is the trick to the establishment and growth of the business. The key to
successful management is to inspect the marketplace environment and create employment and profit opportunities that give the
potential growth and fiscal viability of the business enterprise.

Despite the Importance of direction, this region can be misunderstood and poorly executed, chiefly because people concentrate on
the output rather than the procedure for direction.

Toward the end Of the 1980s, company managers became consumed in enhancing product quality, sometimes ignoring their function
vis-a-vis personnel. The focus has been on reducing costs and raising output, while dismissing the long-term benefits of
motivating employees. This shortsighted view tended to raise profits in the short term, but made a dysfunctional long-term
business environment.

Simultaneously With the increase in concern about quality, entrepreneurship attracted the attention of business. A sudden wave of
successful entrepreneurs appeared to leave earlier management theories obsolete. The press centered on the new cult heroes Steve
Jobs and Steve Wozniack (founders and developers of the Apple Computer) while ignoring the marketing and organizing talents of
Mike Markula, the executive accountable for Apple's business program. The story of two men selling their Volkswagen bus to
construct the first Apple computer was more romantic than that of their organizational genius that enabled Apple to develop,
market and ship its products while rapidly becoming a significant business.

In big Companies, effective handle business skills requires preparation. Planning is essential for developing a company's
potential. But many small businesses don't recognize the demand for long-term aims, since the small number of individuals involved
in managing the company implies equal responsibility in the preparation and decision-making procedures. Nonetheless, the need for
preparation is as important in a small business as it is in a large one.

This manual Focuses on the importance of good management practices. Specifically, it addresses the responsibilities of handling
the external and internal environments.

Running A Business Effectively: The External Environment. Five years ago, Alvin Toffler indicated that the eyesight of the citizen
in the tight grasp of an omnipotent bureaucracy would be substituted by an organizational arrangement of ad-hocracy. The
conventional business organization implied a social contract between employees and employers. By adhering to a fixed set of duties
and sharply defined roles and responsibilities, employees received a predefined set of benefits. The Organizational structure that
Toffler predicted in 1970 became the standard 20 years later, and it arrived changed concepts of jurisdiction. As organizations
became transitory, the authority of their company and firm was replaced with the jurisdiction of the individual supervisor. This
entrepreneurial management model is now being replicated throughout society. As a result, the individual small business operator
must internalize ever raising organizational purposes.

Another change In the present business environment is dealing with government agencies. Their effect on the behavior of business
most recently seems to have improved. As businesses fail to attain high levels of moral behavior or individual businesses exhibit
specific lapses, the government rushes in to fill the breach with its regulations.

Effective Communications play an integral role in operating and managing any thriving small business. With open communications
modifications and their effects on the organization are rapidly shared. Your company then has the time and skills needed to react
to changes and take advantage of evolving opportunities.

The next Checklist addressing how you would respond to a worker's proposal provides an evaluation of the communication process in
your company. Place a check next to the statements which are commonly heard in your business.

Balancing Schedules Stress and Personnel. Without organization and decent control the compressed time programs related to modern
business can lead to stress and make extraordinary demands on individuals. A successful management structure can reduce stress and
channel the effective capacity of employees into company growth and profits.

Setting Duties Tasks and Duties. An organization is distinguished by the nature and determination of employees' duties tasks and
obligations. While many organizations use various procedures for determining these it is vital that they be clearly defined.

The center of any Business is its people and their own functions. Duties tasks and responsibilities frequently evolve in an ad hoc
manner. A typical firm starts with a few individuals often one doing all duties. As the firm grows others are hired to fill
certain roles often on a practical basis. Roles that were handled by consultants and specialists beyond the firm are now handled
internally. As new needs emerge new roles are developed.

Another crucial to Successful management is located in controlling battle. Conflict cannot be eliminated from the business or the
interpersonal actions of this enterprise. A measure of the business's success is that the degree to which conflict can be exposed
and the energies related to it channeled to develop the firm. Although establishing policies and procedures represents the
tangible aspect of organization and management the mechanisms to tolerate and embody barriers to the established operation serve
as the actual gist of a firm that will survive and thrive.

Even though you May discover that certain events are affecting your company be careful not to change the organizational structure
of your firm without discussing it with your management staff. Employees normally can accomplish goals despite organizational
structures enforced by management. Since restructuring involves spending a great deal of time studying new rules implementing a
new organizational structure is pricey.

The character of A prosperous organization can be simply outlined than implemented. The Following checklist can help you determine
measures to ensure your direction Construction is sufficient. Check the entries that apply to your firm and also find Out what
measures your business should take to enhance its management Construction.
