A lovely little girl was holding two
apples with both hands. Her mom came in and softly asked her
little daughter with a smile: my sweetie, could you give your

some seconds, then she suddenly took a quick bite on one apple,

bowed.
"Here open the gates of paradise,"
said Hakuin.

auctioneer thought it scarcely worth his while to waste much
time on the old violin. But he held it up with a smile:
"What am I biddin' good folks," He
cried. "Who'll start the biddin' for me? A dollar;" then, "Two!
Only two? Two dollars, and who'll make it three? Three dollars
once, three dollars twice; going for three --- " But no.
