Weakness or Strength?

Sometimes your biggest weakness can become your biggest strength. Take, for example, the story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.

The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training the master had taught him only one move.

"Sensei," the boy finally said, "Shouldn't I be learning more moves?"

"This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you'll ever need to know," the sensei replied.

Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.

Several months later, the sensei took the boy to his first tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match. Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals.

This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about to stop the match when the sensei intervened.

"No," the sensei insisted, "Let him continue."

Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made a critical mistake: he dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the match and the tournament. He was the champion.

On the way home, the boy and sensei reviewed every move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind.

"Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?"

"You won for two reasons," the sensei answered. "First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grip your left arm."

The boy's biggest weakness had become his biggest strength.

Your Personal Angel

A story about an angel who has been taking care of you even before you were born and will always take care no matter how much you grow old.... you know that angel as Mother, Mamma, Mom...

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed.

How could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, ‘Eeee, your mom only has one eye!’

I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and said, ‘ If you’re only gonna make me a laughing stock, why don’t you just die?’

My mom did not respond… I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger. I was oblivious to her feelings.

I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her. So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.

Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts. Then one day, my Mother came to visit me. She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren.

When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited. I screamed at her, ‘How dare you come to my house and scare my children!’ Get Out Of Here! Now!’

And to this, my mother quietly answered, ‘Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address,’ and she disappeared out of sight.

One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died. I did not shed a single tear. They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

My dearest son,

I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to your house and scared your children.

I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you. I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.

You see... when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you having to grow up with one eye. So I gave you mine.

I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

With all my love to you,

Your mother

Manage a Business successfully, handle a company, is the key to the establishment and expansion of the company. The key to
successful management is to examine the market environment and create profit and employment opportunities that provide the
potential growth and financial viability of the business.

Regardless of the Significance of direction, this area can be misunderstood and poorly implemented, primarily because people focus
on the output in place of the process of direction.

Toward the end Of the 1980s, company managers became absorbed in enhancing product quality, sometimes ignoring their function
vis-a-vis personnel. The focus has been on reducing costs and increasing output, while dismissing the long-term advantages of
motivating employees. This shortsighted perspective tended to raise profits in the brief term, but created a dysfunctional
long-term business environment.

Simultaneously With the growth in concern about quality, entrepreneurship brought the interest of company. A sudden wave of
successful entrepreneurs appeared to leave sooner management concepts obsolete. The press centered on the brand new cult heroes
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniack (creators and developers of the Apple Computer) while disregarding the marketing and coordinating
abilities of Mike Markula, the executive responsible for Apple's business program. The story of two guys selling their Volkswagen
bus to construct the first Apple computer was more romantic than that of their organizational genius that enabled Apple to
develop, market and send its products while quickly turning into a significant corporation.

In big Businesses, effective manage business abilities necessitates planning. Planning is vital for creating a company's
potential. But many small businesses do not recognize the demand for long-term aims, since the few of people involved in operating
the business implies equivalent responsibility in the preparation and decision-making procedures. Nonetheless, the need for
planning is as important in a small business because it is in a large one.

This manual Focuses on the importance of good management practices. Specifically, it addresses the responsibilities of handling
the external and internal environments.

Managing A Business Effectively: The External Environment. Five years ago, Alvin Toffler suggested the vision of the taxpayer at
the tight grip of an omnipotent bureaucracy would be substituted by an organizational structure of ad-hocracy. The conventional
business organization implied a social contract between workers and employers. By adhering to some fixed set of obligations and
sharply defined functions and responsibilities, employees received a predefined set of rewards. The Organizational structure which
Toffler called in 1970 became the norm 20 years later, and it came changed concepts of authority. As associations became more
transitory, the authority of the organization and firm has been replaced by the authority of the individual manager. This
entrepreneurial management version is now being replicated throughout society. As a result, the individual small business operator
must internalize ever increasing organizational purposes.

Another Shift In the present business environment is dealing with government agencies. Their effect on the conduct of company most
recently seems to have improved. As businesses fail to attain high levels of ethical behaviour or individual businesses exhibit
specific lapses, the government rushes in to fill the breach with regulations.

Effective Communications play an integral part in operating and managing any thriving business. With open communications changes
and their effects on the business are rapidly shared. Your company then has the time and skills required to react to changes and
take advantage of evolving opportunities.

The next Checklist addressing how you'd respond to an employee's proposal offers an evaluation of the communication process in
your business. Place a check beside the statements which are generally heard in your business.

Balancing Schedules Stress and Personnel. Without organization and good management the compressed time programs related to
contemporary company can cause stress and make extraordinary demands on individuals. An effective management structure can reduce
stress and channel the effective capacity of employees into company growth and profits.

Setting Duties Tasks and Responsibilities. An organization is characterized by the nature and determination of employees' duties
tasks and responsibilities. While many organizations use different methods for determining these it is essential that they be
clearly defined.

The core of any Business is its people and their functions. Duties responsibilities and tasks frequently evolve into an ad hoc
manner. A normal company starts with a couple of people often one doing all duties. As the firm develops others are hired to fill
specific roles often on a functional basis. Roles which were handled by consultants and specialists outside the firm are now
managed internally. As new demands emerge new roles have been developed.

Another crucial to Successful management lies in controlling battle. Conflict cannot be eliminated from the business or the
interpersonal activities of the enterprise. A measure of the business's success is the degree to which conflict can be subjected
and the energies associated with it channeled to develop the company. Although establishing policies and procedures represents the
concrete aspect of management and organization the mechanics to endure and embody challenges to the established operation serve as
the real essence of a firm that will survive and prosper.

Even though you May find that particular events are impacting your business be careful to not change the organizational structure
of your firm without discussing it with your management team. Employees generally can achieve goals despite organizational
arrangements imposed by management. Since restructuring entails spending a great deal of time studying new guidelines implementing
a new organizational structure is pricey.

The character of A successful organization can be more simply summarized than employed. The Following checklist can help you
determine steps to ensure your direction Structure is sufficient. Verify the entries that apply to your company and also find Out
what steps your company needs to take to enhance its management Construction.
